Helens Bay Beach

Helen’s Bay Beach is one of two excellent beaches found in Crawfordsburn Country Park. These beautiful sandy beaches are by far the best within the Belfast area and as such are exceptionally popular and well used. Helen’s Bay Beach is gently shelving and has excellent water quality making it ideal for bathing. The country park provides an excellent back drop to the beach, with wooded headlands, meadows, quality walks and good facilities.

First Aid is available throughout the year at the visitors centre. The beach is occasionally effected by the wake from high speed ferries.

Facilities: Cafe / Restaurant, Car Parking, Dogs Allowed, Picnic Sites, Toilets, Tourist Information / Visitor Centre. There are disabled toilets and disabled parking a short distance from the beach. A path suitable for wheelchair users leads from the car park to a path running adjacent to the beach.

For users with limited mobility, the facilities at Crawfordsburn are also available- a Visitor Centre and Café with wheelchair access. Water quality is Excellent. Awards: Green Coast.

Helen’s Bay Beach is part of Belfast Lough ASSI and SAC which was established for the populations on wading birds that spend the winter at the beach. In the summer time look out for Eider Ducks and terns. If you’re lucky you may see Porpoises and seals.
